German silver belt buckle “Indian Chief”
The "Indian Chief" is the colloquial name for the United States 5-cent nickel coin that was minted from 1913 to 1938. It is officially called Buffalo Nickel or Indian Head Nickel. The date 1935 is simply one of the minting years of this coin. The buckle depicts the profile of a Native American, symbolizing the cultural heritage and history of the Native American population. The reverse of the buckle depicts the American bison, symbolizing the natural wealth of America and the importance of this animal species in Native American culture. Symbolic Meaning: "Indian Chief" symbolizes respect for Native American peoples and their role in US history. The coin was created at a time when interest in authentic American culture was growing, and its imagery called for an awareness of the historical significance of Native American culture.
Buckles are cast in german silver. After casting, each buckle processed manually. After processing the buckle, cover by patina and polishing one more time. Buckle comes complete with a stainless steel frame 2 sizes to choose from (38 mm and 45 mm) for later attachment to the belt.
